Terms of Service

These are the terms for using Desklog. We've tried to write them plainly rather than in dense legal boilerplate. By creating an account or using Desklog, you agree to them.

01What Desklog is

Desklog is a web-based notepad with an optional lightweight task and time-tracking layer, currently offered free during early access. Features, pricing, and availability may change as the product develops — we'll do our best to give notice of anything major.

02Your account

You sign in with your Google account — there's no separate Desklog password to manage. You must be at least 13 years old to use Desklog. Keep your Google account secure; anyone with access to it can access your Desklog notes.

03Your content

What you write is yours. We don't claim ownership of your notes. We store and process it solely to provide the service back to you — displaying it, syncing it across your devices, and (only when you ask) running it through AI Tidy.

Don't use Desklog to store or share content that's illegal, infringes someone else's rights, or that you don't have the right to store.

04AI features

AI Tidy sends the text of the note you're editing to Anthropic's Claude API to clean up formatting and wording, and returns the result to you. It's optional, invoked only when you click it, and subject to a daily usage limit to keep the feature sustainable for everyone. Treat AI-generated text like a first draft, not a final authority — verify anything that matters before relying on it.

05Acceptable use

• Don't attempt to break, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to Desklog or other users' accounts.
• Don't scrape, reverse-engineer, or resell the service.
• Don't abuse the AI Tidy feature — automated or bulk use beyond normal personal note-taking may be rate-limited or blocked.

06Availability

Desklog is an early-stage, independently-run product. We don't currently promise a specific uptime or guarantee the service will always be available or error-free. We back up data as a matter of good practice, but you're encouraged to keep anything critical backed up elsewhere too.

07Ending your account

You can stop using Desklog at any time and request deletion of your account and data by emailing shivaramchalla@gmail.com. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

08No warranty

Desklog is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

09Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Desklog and its operator aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount, if any, you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

10Governing law

These terms are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction where Desklog's operator is based. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

11Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page and note it in the app.
